Abstract. Unmanned aerial vehicles become a substantial part of modern fieldwork. Constant innovations, functionality expansion of UAVs as well as reduction of their costs create new opportunities for drones to be used in geophysical research. Hard terrain conditions are no longer a catch. UAVs allow to carry out magnetic surveys faster than using portable magnetometers that are carried on foot, they also use much less resources than manned aviation. There is a need for UAV, which is designed to perform such tasks. Created prototype includes equipment needed for programming, operating the vehicle for conducting geophysical research and collecting received data. It has been tested under different conditions in order to define optimal technical parameters of the UAV. Detailed technical descriptions of the prototype, different stages of conducted experiment, and operation procedures for controlling the prototype are described in the article.
